We are one of the oldest and most active chapters in the Southeast with over 100 members representing the full range of industry, government, and academia.  Our history traces back to 1958 when it was established. James C. Lynch, CPP, was elected the first North Alabama Chapter Chairman in May 1958. Jim Lynch remained an active and vital part of the North Alabama Chapter for many years, serving as Chapter Chairman and mentor to many security professionals.

The chapter sponsors a variety of activities and events for members, guests, and our community. Our activities have included:

  • Monthly networking luncheons that include a keynote speaker addressing a topic related to security, risk management, loss prevention, law enforcement,  homeland defense, and other topics of local interest.
  • Virtual Forums (90 minutes) are hosted throughout the year offering members and guests the opportunity to hear subject matter experts speak on a variety of security related topics. These forums are excellent cost-effective training opportunities and provide certification points as well.
  • Certification training and assistance for those seeking professional certification through ASIS International. Certification gives you a competitive advantage that experience alone can't give you.
  • Annual Golf Tournament. The Chapter plans and hosts an annual golf tournament in May with proceeds going to the families of North Alabama police officers who were killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.
  • Chapter awards two (2) academic scholarships each year to deserving students who are pursuing degrees in a security management or criminal justice related field.
  • Community service projects allow our members to contribute their expertise to the community, non-profit organizations, and local businesses, including risk/security assessments and participation in public forums on security related issues.
