2008 BUSINESS LUNCHEONS
April 2008 - Interest and participation in chapter activities continues to grow. The business luncheon was attended by 49 members and guests, including ?? Criminal Justice students from Virgina College of Huntsville (VCH). Special guests included Mr. Reggie Clark, CPP, ASIS Regional Vice President (RVP). Mr. Harold Thompson, CPP provided an eye-opening discussion on the growing threat of Hate crimes in America, as well as the mission of the Southern Poverty Law Center Security team. Mr. Thompson retired from the Alabama ??? with over ?? years and joined SPLC in ???. Chapter Chairman Jonathan Kirby presented Harold Thompson with a gift card as an appreciation for sharing his message.
March 2008 - The business luncheon was attended by 45 members and guests. Mr. Jim Fountain, CPP provided a stimulating discussion on the threat to the innovative technologies being developed in the Tennessee Valley. While the presentation took a decidedly "defense technology" perspective, it also touched on such issues as competitive intelligence and the protection of proprietary information. Mr. Fountain has over forty years experience worldwide as an Intelligence Officer, both in the public and private sectors. He is currently an Intelligence Officer with the Army Operations Activity. Chapter Chairman Jonathan Kirby presented Jim Fountain with an authographed copy of author Homer Hickam's Rocket Boys book as an appreciation for sharing his message.
February 2008 - The business luncheon was attended by over 42 members and guests. Major Mike Izzo, U.S. Army Reserve, provided an excellent presentation of his first-hand experiences in Iraq. Paulette discussed the impact of the surge in Iraq. Chapter Chairman Jonathan Kirby presented Mike Izzo with an autographed copy of author Homer Hickam's Rocket Boys book as an appreciation for sharing her message.
January 2008 - The business luncheon was attended by 25 members and guests. Paulette Hamblin, Facility Security Officer (FSO) for Dynetics Corporation, provided an excellent presentation of the Export Control program. Paulette discussed the importance of the Security Manager being willing to step up and take the lead when their company has a need to address new issues and programs.
